Whilst on a postage run at the post office, I cannot help but recall brief conversations from the evening before where asked, "What do you think of the art landscape today?". To think I have no words among a group of artists, my best is that it evolved faster than we could comprehend and it would proceed so beyond our grasp. There was a hint of expression that my response were mere so, failing to address the issue questioned, if there was ever one. There seems to be a feat of losing control judging from clarifications by the person who posed that question. I thought what could be more wonderful than chaos to an artistic endeavour used to be reserved unto a certain privilege just decades ago? We are not in any attempt to disregard art history alongside trajectories leading to what it is today. Yet when structure and boundaries blur without limitations, that it is free for all to practice, what use there is to define or dictate how it should be? It is all out in the open; Recourses, audience, exposure, accessibility, perception. I love a sentiment shared by the young gentleman next to me saying, "All there is for us to do, is to create what drives us. That is all and ever will be." These beautiful stamps in my hand could be more. Some mails it, some collects it, some enjoyed receiving it. Philatelists further categorise worth according to watermarks, perforation, and print defects. Ever wonder how these remained relevant to this day? It is what it is, and determining its own value is against its own purpose of being created in the first place.
