Sometimes...

Whilst on a postage run at the post office, I cannot help but recall brief conversations from the evening before where asked, "What do you think of the art landscape today?".  To think I have no words among a group of artists, my best is that it evolved faster than we could comprehend and it would proceed so beyond our grasp. There was a hint of expression that my response were mere so, failing to address the issue questioned, if there was ever one. There seems to be a feat of losing control judging from clarifications by the person who posed that question. I thought what could be more wonderful than chaos to an artistic endeavour used to be reserved unto a certain privilege just decades ago? We are not in any attempt to disregard art history alongside trajectories leading to what it is today. Yet when structure and boundaries blur without limitations, that it is free for all to practice, what use there...

Multimedia Design , since the term was coined in tandem to the rise of computing machines, comprises five elements; Text, Image, Audio, Video, and Interactivity. The last principle were challenged by animators, debatably valid as moving images or animation (by animating to interact)  enforced a minimal benchmark to 'communicate' with users and audiences. A decade later we normalise using the label Digital Media as an umbrella term to reference a wider spectrum to create, again propelled by electrical hardwares and electronic devices to put screens into easily accessible hands.      What began as a mere mix-matching of five singular element adequately, with intentions to create limited screen experiences  (a long time ago) , has now shifted into creators being the 'consumers' themself, way before their audience is prepared for a distributable consumption of digital contents. Cr...

Came across some old JPEGs while purging my digital archives to determine which could be kept as ideas to begin writing for this site. Created using Adobe Illustrator CS, I stared at these for some time trying to recall the thoughts and steps behind it. In the absence of any dimensional-assist or automated tool, it was pure perspective and imagination.      Nearly two decades later I ponder not on whether such task should embrace the use of advanced shortcuts or generative graphics, but on whether I am versed with the concept and its learning if decided to do so. Wishing that 'AI still means Ai' , labelling one's profile  "No to AI" to protest, or signing off with a 'No AI' symbol aren't means to forward a conversation, seen no more than mere defensive reactions to distinguish us from them. Notice that none from the other side is pausing to address these insecurities despite our cry f...

Time is fiction, a creation to justify being. Places we have been changed, alongside memories of it. We are capable of convincing ourselves an alternate version to a particular story, tweaked into our favour to soothe what could have been. As for that someone, time came to halt by how we last remember them, as we are also capable of acknowledging our own change while assuming others stayed the same, though it is true for those who passed to the other side. If the past is modifiable to the extend of our imagination, and that 'past' is labelled as time, then how sure are we that time is real other than a functional measurement to reason with being? An existential blindspot I'd say.

It is said that man walked the land, one day realising the impression they left behind on wet soil instilled an imagination that the moisturised sediments could be shaped and dried. On whether this occurred before or after the discovery of fire, I do not know. If it is to be of the former, I wonder if just by leaving it for dry would do any good. If not made a vessel, perhaps a decorated ornament of sorts. Did our ancestors only figured mud as functional storage after settling down, having enough of a nomadic pursue in certain regions? Hunters to store meat and fat, gatherers to preserve and ferment. I am getting ahead of myself here discussing clay from an anthropological approach.        "Too wet cannot, too dry cannot. Too fast cannot, too slow cannot." , was a phrase I jokingly came up with while wedging on my second week of pottery apprenticeship. A crude phrase that I believe enc...

A new dawn with a faint hint of ‘Cinnamon Latté’ from afar, leaving behind a sky briefly painted in ‘Silent Blue’ . I leaped from the platform into a coach as if travelling between time and space so insignificant. Drowning both ears entirely in melodies, mesmerised by the moving scenes outside separated only by a thin window, I then emphatise on why they love to do so. Those mere flashbacks now projected to the like of a musical video. Reflective, yet silently free from reality.
